The Muslim Congress (TMC) has expressed readiness to partner Ogun State Government in the area of Education and Development Issues.
The State Coordinator (Waali) of TMC, Dr AbdulRazaq Ogunmoye stated this during a courtesy call on Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Professor Abayomi Arigbabu in his office.
Ogunmoye said the organisation would be taking advantage of its rich human resources spread across the State in the proposed partnership with the State Government in the attainment of the education mission of the present administration.
He identified areas of partnership to include provision of qualitative education, alleviation of poverty, moral and spiritual programmes, and socidevelopment, organisation of education al and peaceful advocacies.
"We want you to always see members of The Muslim Congress as your bothers and partners who are always ready to assist the course of the State at any time you call on us'
"We request your esteem office to assist in taking a compassionate look into issues surrounding the welfare of teachers across all levels as this will facilitate grassroots development",he stated
The State Coordinator (Waali) of The Muslim Congress (TMC) asked the Ogun State Government to address persecution of Muslims Students willing to use Hijab in Public Secondary Schools in the State.
"We request your esteem office to look at issues surrounding the use of Hijab by our Muslim females in public schools. This will be in line with the Supreme Court judgement allowing the use of Hijab in public schools" he added .
"We believe that areas of modalities can be worked out amicably by all parties concerned.
Responding,the State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Professor Abayomi Arigbabu clarified that the Ogun State Government does not have policy preventing students in the State Public Secondary Schools from using Hijab.
"The State Government has no policy preventing students from using Hijab in Public Secondary Schools", Arigbabu clarified
Arigbabu described as overzealous, teachers who punished students and violate their rights for using Hijab on school uniform.
"We work in a very sensitive society. How do what people wears affect you? It should not be an issue. There are some people that want to be Catholic than the Pope."Arigbabu stated

The Commissioner explain how the present administration addressed similar issue during promotion interviews of civil servants adding that he asked top civil servant to consider Hijab as a corporate dress.
