Ogun SWAN/Security Cup: Police, NSCDC, Customs, TRACE Jostle For Final




It will be battle royal as defending champions, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps team and Nigeria Police side, Police Machine renewed their rivalry in a semi-finals stage of the 2022 Ogun SWAN Security Safety Cup slated for MKO Abiola International Stadium in Kuto Abeokuta

The Nigeria Police who lost in the final of the maiden edition of the competition in 2021 to NSCDC,  will be seeking a revenge when both sides clash  on Sunday

In other semi-finals match, Nigeria Customs Service will take on the Ogun Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps TRACE for a place in the final of the football tournament on the same day and venue

To reach the semi-finals, NSCDC defeated Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN) in a tension-soaked quarter-final match.

Ogunsanya Olalekan gave VGN the lead within  five minutes of play through a volley ball above the NSCDC goalkeeper, Ogungbo Femi.

Fisayo Ayorinde drew level for the defending champions  in the 14th minute through a header from the corner kick.

The NSCDC team eventually secured a place in the semi-final after winning 4-3 on penalty shootout.

In another encounter, Nigerian Customs Service beat Immigration 5-0 in what looked like a friendly to book a semi final ticket against TRACE Corps on Sunday.

Nigeria Police proved its superiority over flying antelopes of Amotekun Corps with a slim 2-1 win to also qualify for the semi-final against their title rivals, NSCDC.

The two semi final matches will be played on Sunday, 18th September, 2022 beginning from 2pm.
