Ogun Lauds CBN Over School's Rehabilitation Project



Ogun State Government has lauded the effort of staffers of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Abeokuta branch, for supporting the present administration with rehabilitation of Methodist High School, Ogbe, Abeokuta as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and contributions to the development of education in the state 

The State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu who gave the commendation during the commissioning of the rehabilitated block of classrooms, laboratory and staff room at the school, applauded the Apex bank for its committment in ensuring completion of  the project.

Arigbabu said the collaboration of well-meaning individuals, corporate bodies, organisations and other relevant stakeholders in the education sector would further promote quality and effective teaching and learning activities in the society.

The Commissioner highlighted some of the achievements of the Prince Dapo Abiodun-led administration since inception to include, rehabilitation of schools and distribution of furniture, which he said had engendered improved academic performance and standard, assuring that government would not rest on its oars to reposition the sector.

He encouraged members of the public in their various capacities to partner with the government on its ‘Adopt a School’ initiative, especially in remote cities and towns, to further the standard of education in the State, saying “such intervention can also address pressing community needs”.

Responding, the CBN Controller, Abeokuta branch, Alh. Wahab Oseni revealed that the CSR initiative, which spanned over 10 years was mandated by the CBN Governor and it was executed through personal contributions of staff of the bank.

In her welcome address, the Principal of the school, Mrs. Olubunmi Oyegoke appreciated the donors for contributing their quota to the development of education, promising to make good use of the infrastructure.
