Ogun Govt Moves To Prevent Crisis Between Mining Company ,Host Community In Obafemi-Owode

Ogun State Government has intervened to prevent crisis between a mining company, Bluestone Quarry Limited and its host, the Ibulawe Community Development Association in Obafemi/Owode Local Government Area over an issue of  resettlement of the affected community

The leadership of the Community Development Association appreciated the Prince Dapo Abiodun-led administration for amicably resolving the community's disagreement with the mining company on the resettlement of the people in the community.

The members of the CDA had officially complained to the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment about the activities of the company, stating that contrary to a verbal agreement reached, the company had moved to forcefully commence operation within the community without fulfilling its promises of resettling the community members, as well as the reconstruction of a Church and school.

Chairman of Ibulawe Community Development Association, Alhaji Sikirulai Odesanya gave the commendation during  a meeting facilitated by the Commissioner in the Ministry, Mrs. Kikelomo Longe to mediate between the CDA and the company.

Odesanya said the matter had been resolved and assured that the Community was looking forward to experiencing improved economic development with the presence of the company.

Also speaking, the Legal representative of the mining company, Barr. Ibrahim Atanda, said the company was committed to fulfilling its promises of resettling the community, as well as constructing the school and church.

Atanda disclosed that in line with the directive of the Commissioner, a draft of the agreement would be prepared and made available to the Ministry, assuring that the company was committed to executing all the projects before the commencement of mining operations in the community.
