Ogun State Government has charged its newly appointed Corporate Haulage Agents to be transparent and fair, as well as ensure they fully comply with the terms of engagement, as they contribute their quota to improving the State's revenue profile
The State Commissioner for Industry, Trade, and Investment, Mrs. Kikelomo Longe who gave the charge while addressing the agents at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, admonished them to discharge their duties diligently and adhere to the principle of equity and justice.
Longe said the government would not renege on the terms of the agreement, as she promised that necessary support would be provided to ensure that the agents carry out their duties effectively.
The Commissioner affirmed that haulage fee collection was backed by law and part of the funds for providing road projects and other infrastructure across the State, enjoining the agents to give as much information as possible.
Also speaking, Special Adviser to the Governor on Industry, Trade, and Investment, Chief Remi Ogunmefun said the Ministry would relate with Business Membership Organisations like the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), to further aid the relationship between the agents and companies, and urged them to improve on past performances.
In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mr. Olu. Ola. Aikulola advised the agents not to abandon their responsibilities mid-way, adding that the Ministry would be on the lookout for companies deploying different strategies to avoid paying taxes into government coffers.
Speaking, one of the appointed agents, Mr. Kayode Sijuade, commended the State government for the responsibility assigned to them and promised to discharge their duties as expected.
