A free week has been declared by the National Examinations Council (NECO) in its ongoing Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) for school-based candidates, to enable Muslim faithful have enough time to celebrate Sallah Day slated for this Saturday, 9th of July, 2022
The Head Information and Public Relations Division of NECO, Azeez Sani, who announced the free week on Monday in a statement issued in Minna, Niger state capital, made it clear that the council had not scheduled any examination for the Sallah period as being rumoured.
“The Council has given a whole examination free week, beginning from Friday, 8th July to Wednesday, 13th July, 2022 in the On-going Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) for School based candidates to enable Muslim faithful have enough time to celebrate the festival”, Sani stated
He explained that the week long free days out of the examination time table granted by NECO was contrary to insinuations in some quarters that the Council has scheduled examination on Sallah Day (Eid- Adha).
His words, “Conscious of the importance of religious festivals, the Council has always made adequate provision for such in fixing examination dates.”
The 2022 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) for School based Candidates which commenced last week's Monday June 27, 2022, is expected to end on August 12, 2022.
