Re-accreditation:MAPOLY Seeks Support Of Alumni



The management of Ogun State Government owned Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY) Abeokuta has sought for support of  members of the institution's alumni association,  just as it lauded them for their various donations as part of efforts, to ensure a successful re-accreditation and accreditation of the polytechnic's existing and new academic programmes

Top officials of  the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) will be visiting the over 43 years institution in the coming month (August) for re-accreditation exercise of the existing National Diploma (ND)and Higher National Diploma (HND) academic programmes as well as accreditation of the new courses to enable the polytechnic admit more students

Acting Rector of the institution, Dr. Adeoye Odedeji made  the call on Thursday in Abeokuta while hosting a delegation of the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic Abeokuta Alumni Association (MAPALUM) led by it's National President, Pastor Ezekiel Obasanya


The acting Rector who was full of praises for the immeasurable contributions of the alumni association, noted the support of the alumni of the Accountancy Department, Marketing Department who is constructing a building on the campus and that of the Mass Communication Department whose 1992 set donated refurbished broadcast equipments to equip the television studio of the department, ahead of the visit of the NBTE team for the re-accreditation exercise


Odedeji described the exercise as long over due adding that NBTE last visited institution in 2016 for re-accreditation of academic programmes before destruption of the polytechnic's academic programmes in 2017, following the upgrading of the institution by the immediate past administration to a Universitity of Science and Technology 

 "I want to appreciate the alumni for the show of  love and demonstration of commitment. We can't do successful accreditation alone with out the support of the State Government and other critical stakeholders such as the alumni association", he stated 

"We need to put preparation in place to scale the hurdle of accreditation by NBTE  and put MAPOLY back on track", Odedeji added 

The acting Rector who expressed concern over major challenge of finance facing institution in meeting its some of the financial obligations to staff, however solicitated for more support of the alumni association to compliment the effort of government in meeting other required facilities for successful re-accreditation and accreditation exercise 

President of the alumni association, Pastor Ezekiel Obasanya while responding, commended the administrative style of the acting Rector for turning around MAPOLY within the period of two years


He assured that MAPALUM would do more to support its almater  to sustain the tradition of the polytechnic of  providing quality education for its under graduates 

"I want to assure you that you will get more of our support by the grace of God", he promised.
 
Obasanya who was very proud of the success stories of the products of MAPOLY in various fields of endeavor both within Nigeria and outside the country, expressed confidence that the institution would overcome its present challenges and ensure successful re-accreditation and accreditation of its academic programmes.


Also  Council of Distinguish Alumni CODA of the association, Alhaji Juwon Olabode, Alhaji Gbadamosi Nojeem and others reassured the management of mobilizing members for the needed support for their almater(MAPOLY)
