Gov Abiodun Praises Self On Achievements In Education Sector, As OgunTech Holds 5th Convocation




Governor Dapo Abiodun says his administration's remarkable achievements  in the Ogun State education sector is because of huge investments in the education, especially in the areas of deployment of funds, and resources to revatalise it.


Abiodun who was speaking  at the 5th convocation of the Ogun State Institute of Technology, Igbesa, revealed that his administration had considered education as its cardinal responsibility.

Represented by his deputy, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, the governor  stated that the Information and Communication Technology institutions in the State had continued to deliver on their mandates, while maintaining their reputation as top technology-intensive and entrepreneurial-sensitive.

“The prompt intervention of our administration through the swift deployment of funds and resources have not only restored the glory of education but sustained the status of the State as the education capital in Nigeria”, Abiodun said.

While congratulating the Rector, Engr. Dr. (Mrs.) Olufunke Akinkurolere, management and staff of the institute for the outstanding performance displayed through academic excellence, infrastructural development, and laurels, Abiodun said the government’s determination to create a conducive ambiance for effective teaching and learning service delivery, would allow the students realise their potential.

He charged the graduating students to put to use the knowledge gained, and comport themselves in a manner befitting of worthy products of the institution and State,  advising them to avoid untoward ways of getting rich quickly.

In her address, the Rector, Engr. Dr. (Mrs) Akinkurolere submitted that the school curriculum was designed to allow industries and organisations around the institute to discover their relevance in their establishment, thus making them employable.

The Rector lauded the Governor for the tremendous development the school had recorded since the inception of his administration, while soliciting more intervention to enable the school to attain greater height.

In his convocation lecture titled, “Sustainable National Development through Entrepreneurship and Technology, the guest lecturer, a Professor of Civil Engineering from Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti, James Olugbenga Aribisala submitted that economic and unemployment challenges in the country could be tackled, through self-reliance and productivity.

Responding on behalf of other graduating students, the overall best student, Miss Aderonke Adenuga, appreciated the government for providing an enabling environment that has made learning easy for them. She promised that they would be good and worthy ambassadors of the institution and State wherever they find themselves.

Highlights of the event were the presentation of a cash gift of N1m and automatic employment to the overall best graduating student.
