Ogun Technical Colleges' Principals ,Instructors Set For Study Tour To Germany




Ogun State Government has concluded plans to sponsor eight Principals and 11 instructors  in its  Science and Technical Colleges (GSTCs), for a study tour to Germany, as part of efforts  to build the capacity of teachers and enhance teaching of technical and vocational subjects in colleges 

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Technical and Vocational Education and Training, Prof. Joseph Odemuyiwa at a pre-departure meeting with the beneficiaries, reaffirmed that the move was driven by the Prince Dapo Abiodun-led administration’s determination to continually train and retrain its personnel, with the view to linking them with best global practice.

The tour, he explained was in collaboration with a   German Agency for International Development (GIZ), and it is expected to run for two and four weeks for principals and instructors respectively

He pointed out that they would translate knowledge gained to the development of the sector and promote better delivery.

“We have always been setting the pace for others to follow. This trip is another demonstration of the present administration’s commitment to the development of the education sector’’, Odemuyiwa stated.

The Governor’s aide urged them to remain focused, reciprocate the government’s huge investment by being good ambassadors of the State, and utilise the opportunity to grab emerging trends in the technical and vocational sector, assuring that the government would not relent at enhancing teachers’ capacity, and ensure sustenance of the tour for others to benefit.

The Acting Executive Secretary of the Technical and Vocational Education Board, Mr. Olubori Akinleye  in his remark, appreciated the State government for several steps taken to re-engineer and revamp technical education, which has yielded numerous positive outcomes, charging the beneficiaries to take advantage of the trip for future opportunities.

Speaking on behalf of other beneficiaries, Principal, Government Science and Technical College, Ijebu-Ode, Mr. Omotola Samuel lauded the government and GIZ initiative to expand their horizon in technical education, promising not to let them down.
