Gov.Abiodun Promises To Sustain Promotion Of Skillful Students For Employment

Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has stressed that his administration would continue to give priority to  promotion of secondary school's students with required skills for employment, so as to ensure a secured future for them and the state 

Abiodun who restated his administration's commitment to continuous  encouragement of  students with useful skills, declared open the Students Entrepreneurship Activities (Sea) Hub exhibition and completion, a brand child of German Agency for International Development (GIZ)  SEEDIN at the June 12 Cultural Centre, Kuto, Abeokuta

He advised the students to be focused and resilient to have meaningful life.

Represented by his Special Adviser on Technical and Vocational Education and Training, Prof. Joseph Odumuyiwa, the governor  emphasised that total education should be viewed as one that is able to put food on the table of learners as well as make them self- reliant by imbibing skills.

"For us in Ogun State, we have ensured that our students are exposed to complete and total education, and that we have done by putting up various measures at promoting the offering of Trade subjects in our schools through the Ogun State Board for Technical Education. I greatly appreciate our worthy partner, GIZ, for organising this event, I urge our students not to relent because with what I have seen here today, the future is indeed very bright", the governor said.

Also speaking, Head of  Programme, GIZ SEDIN, Markus Wauschkuhn, said the programme was     borne out of the need to improve skills and prepare young people for a secure future and catching them young, adding that the SEA-Hub project is equipping secondary school students with entrepreneurship training in a way that develops their skills to be agile, sustainable and transferable in ever-changing environments and situations.

According to him, Ogun state SEA-Hub has reached over 6,350 students in 95 schools and across 15 Local Government Areas, leveraging on funding from the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ),

He revealed that almost 30,000 students (60% girls) had been empowered through SEA-Hub in Edo, Niger, Lagos, Plateau and of course, the Gateway state.

In her remarks, Permanent Secretary, Ministry, Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Mrs. Abosede Ogunleye, submitted the state is promoting Technical and Vocational Education with the 38 different Trade subjects, where students are at liberty to choose from,  advising them not to allow their their passion for skills to wane.

On her part, Head of Components, GIZ, Mrs. Oladoyin Olawaye pointed out that the event was aimed at fostering employment outcomes and help them carve niche for themselves across different endeavours in the emerging world.

Items exhibited included Solar, Hydro -petrol Gas, Bio- Gas among others as over ten Schools including Rev. Kuto Memorial Grammar School, Abeokuta, May Flower School, Ikenne, Comprehensive High School, Ayetoro participated.
