Customs Operatives Record Seizure Of Over N1.29bn Worth Of Goods Within A Month In Ogun





Operatives of the Nigeria Customs Service Ogun Area 1 Command have seized contraband goods with duty paid value put at one billion,two hundred and ninety million,one hundred and eight thousand ,one hundred and eight thousand, six hundred and eight naira(N1,290,108, 608.00) between May and June, 2022

The  Area Comtroller , Compt Bamidele Abiodun Makinde who disclosed this while conducting newsmen round the seized goods at Idiroko border community in Ipokia Local Government Area of Ogun State, South West, Nigeria, also revealed that over N12.8,million was realized as internally generated revenue into the coffers of the Federal Government of Nigeria during the same period 


The Controller listed goods seized to include. two Units of Foreign Used Vehicle (Tokunbo), four4 Units of Motorcycle (means of conveyance),10 Units of Vehicle (means of conveyance) and 72 pieces of used Compressor 




Makinde listed others seized goods including 289 Cartons of imported Tomato Paste, 53 Cartoons of  foreign used shoes and 390 cartons of frozen Poultry Products as well as 120 Cartons of new footwear which included ,(23 pairs of new) ,122 cartons of Foreign wine as well as 19 Bales and 104 Sacks of foreign used Clothes




He attributed the success recorded during the period to synergy between sister security agencies and traditional rulers who provided the needed intelligence for the operation

The customs  however warned smugglers to desist from the unwholesome act saying the commands would continue to track their activities in the state 

He also appreciated the media for its objective coverage of the command's activities so far
