The Ogun State Government has charged its town planners to shun every form of complicity, by always upholding work ethics and professionalism in discharging their duties
The State Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Town Planner Olatunji Odunlami gave the charge in Abeokuta, during the In-House Professional Training organised by the Ministry with the theme: "Managing Professional Obligation and Ethical Conduct for Effective Service Delivery".
Odunlami who was represented by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mr. Adetunji Kanimodo, explained that the training was intended to re-orientate the officers in an attempt to eradicate professional flaws in the course of their duties, enjoining them never to give in to any form of compromise.
Speaking, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Physical Planning and Urban Development, Town Planner Kamoru Ogunfowora urged the participants, particularly those in lower cadres to understudy their superiors to know the dos and don’ts of the job, asking the Zonal Town Planning Officers to complement government’s effort by improving the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) through compliance with town planning assessment/directives and enforcing sanity and orderliness in the sector.
He added that Town Planners should be able to deploy statisti tocs in terms of pictorial representation in form of Bar charts, pie charts, and histograms to make the report comprehensive.
In his presentation, the Resource Person, TPl. Moses Ogunleye said ethics in professional practice, obligation in service delivery, unlearning to improve service delivery, as well as professionalism in service delivery should be considered while discharging their responsibilities.
He noted that the workshop would improve the skills and competence of the participants, adding that it would impact their knowledge positively and be beneficial to them in their day-to-day activities.
Speaking on behalf of the participants, Town Planner Bankole Temitope and Town Planner Kehinde Adetola hailed the Ministry for organising such a workshop, acknowledging that it would avail them the opportunity to perform their duties diligently and improve their performances on the job.
