A socio-cultural group, Majo Noble Club of Ayetoro (MANCA) and her project arm, Majo Noble Foundation (MANOF) has donated furniture and other educational materials to nine secondary schools and the Technical College in Ayetoro, Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun State
The group also provided medical equipment to some health facilities including Ibile and Igan-Okoto Primary Health Centers within the town.
No fewer than 155 residents of Ayetoro benefited from free vital medical tests and drugs as well as materials donated including 60 pairs of three-seater furniture, non-magnetic white boards and a medium-size generator
The MANCA President, DSP Amos Faremi while speaking during an Intervention Summit held before the presentation of the donated items to beneficiaries at the Comprehensive High School, Ayetoro, said the Club made the donation and organised the Intervention Summit as part of efforts aimed at aiding the development of the education and health sectors and also improve the security of lives and property in the town.
Faremi added that the Club has consistently over the last 19 years implemented projects to improve the lives and property of indigenes and residents of Ayetoro and environs assuring that the group would not relent in its culture of contributing to the development of the town.
In his keynote remarks, MANOF Chairman, Mr. Olu. Ola. Aikulola stated that the group has been implementing projects across different sectors adding that artisans have been empowered through such projects while Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) forms have been given to admission seekers and scholarships awarded to many others admitted into various higher institutions.
Aikulola who is also the Permanent Secretary, Ogun State Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment said the Intervention Summit was organised to help chart the way forward for a better future for the people of Ayetoro and environs.
He called on all indegenes of Ayetoro and Yewa Land to work harmoniously to help restore the glory of Yewa Land adding that there is the need for Yewa Land to record more progress in all sectors.
Mrs. Bamidele Makinde who delivered the first lecture of the Summit titled, "Our Confounding and Peculiar Challenges in Education - The Way Forward/Re-Orienting Education Stakeholfers ", Director of Education Support Services, Ogun State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, said parents, teachers, students, religious and community leaders need to collectively address the challenge of indiscipline and moral decadence in the society.
Makinde expressed concern with the increase in the number of parents who encourage their children to venture into acts of indiscipline and corrupt practices like advance fee fraud known as "yahoo yahoo" stressing that parents need to set good examples for their children while also collaborating with teachers in helping students succeed in their education.
Delivering the second lecture titled, "Causes, Features and Solutions to Security Challenges in Ayetoro and Environs" the Chairman, Police Public Relations Committee, Ayetoro and Principal, Alaye High School Junior, Mr. Gbenga Oladipe said poverty and joblessness were some of the causes of insecurity in the country calling on MANCA not to relent at executing different projects which would aid the development of Ayetoro and its environs.
Oladipe called for concerted efforts of all stakeholders to tackle insecurity adding that government needs to find a lasting solution to anti-open grazing, provide employment opportunities while youths should embrace farming instead of looking for limited white-collar jobs.
In his remarks, a former Ogun State Head of Service, Elder Olusola Adeyemi lauded MANCA for its consistency at implementing beneficial programs charging the Club to continue its developmental strides.
He called on students, parents, teachers and other stakeholders to apply the knowledge gained at the Summit to improve themselves and the society at large.
Representatives of some of the beneficiaries, Principal, Ajoda High School (Junior School), Mrs. Safiat Lawal and Officer in charge of Igan-Okoto Primary Health Center, Mr. Sheteolu Babatunde lauded the socio-cultural group for the donation calling on other individuals and groups to complement government efforts at improving the lives of the people.Schools that benefitted from the donation include, Adokun High School, Igan-Okoto, Ayetoro Community Grammar School, Ayetoro (Senior and Junior Schools), Ajoda High School (Junior and Senior Schools), Ajoda High School, Ayetoro (Junior and Senior Schools), Alaye High School, Ayetoro (Junior and Senior Schools), Comprehensive High School (Junior) and the Government Science and Technical College, Ayetoro.
