Take Advantage Of Skill Acquired To Create Jobs Opportunities- Gov.Abiodun Charges Corps Members

Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State Government has charged outgoing members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to take advantage of the skills acquired at the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) scheme to create employment opportunities for themselves and others who might be less endowed and help nurture the economy of the State.

 Abiodun gave the charge at the passing out Parade of the NYSC 2021 Batch A Stream 2 Corps members at the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Kuto in Abeokuta, the state capital

The governor who was represented by the State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Dr. Oluwadare Kehinde, urged the outgoing Corps members to take advantage of the Anchor Borrower Scheme, FADAMA scheme, ‘Ok’Owo’ Dapo among other various social programmes already designed to promote job creation, poverty alleviation, and food security which would help them in any areas they decide to start their businesses.

"There are various opportunities across all sectors of our dear States economy that can help you discover and nurture your potential. So, as I encourage you to see Ogun State as a home, I also urge you to settle down peacefully and establish your entrepreneurial skills. By doing this, you will partner and own an important position in the successful and continued implementation of the ‘Building Our Future Together’ agenda of our administration" Governor Abiodun said.

Abiodun assured the Corps members of his administration’s continual support, saying the government would provide the enabling environment for the promotion of activities of the NYSC Scheme.  

Also speaking, the State Coordinator, NYSC, Mrs. Belinda Faniyi urged the outgoing Corps members to shun anti-social vices that could derail their growth in life and imbibe the spirit of humility and dedication as they enter the larger society.

A total of 4289 Corps members successfully passed out from the scheme while 77 Corps members who absconded from the service or committed one offense or the other would repeat the service year.
