NPFL: Remo Stars Beat Plateau Utd 1-0,Maintain Lead



Samuel Anakwe's header secured a vital lone-goal win for Remo Stars of Ikenne-Remo against visiting Plateau United of Jos on Sunday and ensured that the Sky-Blue side maintained their lead on the table of Nigeria Professional Football League NPFL,  two points clear ahead of Rivers United of Port-harcourt

The Gbenga Ogunbote tutored side are now leading with 11points, following the victory in the week five encounter at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne-Remo, Ogun State while second placed Rivers United with nine points settled for a goaless draw in Minna against their host, Niger Tornadoes 

The match saw Gbenga Ogunbote made four (4) changes to his side that played out a 1-1 draw against Dakkada FC in Uyo last weekend.

Anakwe scored the only goal of the match in the second half of the thrilling encounter for Remo Stars who sustained the pressure against former Champions  

Plateau United later dominated the final stages but Nonrot Silas couldn't convert in the closing minutes of the game to give his side  a vital point on the road.

Next for the Sky Blue is a trip to Bauchi to face Wikki Tourist in matchday six (6) of the ongoing 2021/2022 NPFL season.


In other matches decided,Enyimba International of Aba moved to the third  position with nine points after managing a one/nil win against the visiting Shooting Stars of Ibadan in Aba 

Dakkada United of Uyo who played one-all draw with Remo Stars in the week four match, regained their winning formula, beating Nasarawa United of Lafia 2-1, Mountain of Fire MFM of Lagos defeated Abia Warriors with the same margin while Sunshine Stars of Akure thrashed Kano Pillars 3-0 in Ijebu-Ode

Katsina United also managed a 2-1 win against Gombe United,Heartland narrowly defeated the visiting Wikki Tourists of Bauchi by a lone-goal in Owerri, Lobi Stars of Makurdi recorded the same margin against Akwa United of Uyo while Kwara United and Enugu Rangers settled for one-all draw in Ilorin
