An All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairman in Abeokuta South Local Government Area of Ogun State, Mr.Tunji Fagbenro is seeking the removal of the Executive Governor of the state, Prince Dapo Abiodun and other state governors from the control of the leadership structure of the party.

He said that state governors who are leaders of the party with huge responsibilities should be relegated to the back seat and the power should be shifted to the party executives.
"In as much I agreed with direct primary, don't we foresee third hand in it, until we take away the leadership of party away from our governors, because the problem is holding art of governance in one hand and party in another, party should act as check and balance, party should be supreme", he said.
Fagbenro was also responding to reactions trailing his comment on the issue during a meeting with the elders and leaders of the party
Some of the members claimed that he was planted in the Dapo Abiodun Camp, following the trends of the Ogun state politics.
But Fagbenro dismissed it, saying has benefited greatly from the kind gesture of Prince Dapo Abiodun from time memorial as he used to be the deputy party chairman and now the substantive chairman of the party in Abeokuta South Local Government.
