The rejuvenated Gateway United Football Club of Abeokuta will be facing an uphill task in displacing Bendel Insurance of Benin and Remo Stars of Ikenne-Remo with 40points each, in its quest for a place in the Super Eight in second tier Nigeria National League and promotion to the elite, Nigeria Professional Football League NPFL
The Ogun State Government team currently in the third position with 35 points from 22 matches played, will be seeking to consolidate on its winning streak for possible place in the super eight matches in the NNL, when they clash with seventh placed Crown with 31points at the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology LAUTECH Sports Complex in Ogbomoso this Wednesday
The Abeokuta based side had in the last three matches played, defeated One Rocket FC by a lone-goal, recorded a 2-1 win on the road against host Apex Krane in Agbor ,Delta State and recently thrashed Julius Atete FC at home 4-1in the Group B2 Southern Conference of the league
Julius Ikechukwu has been in great form ,scoring for the Hakeem Busari tutored side and will want to score more goals against Crown for a vital win and a place in the Super Eight
But one more win for either Insurance of Benin or Remo Stars of Ikenne-Remo with an outstanding match each in Group B2, will automatically end the quest of Gateway FC for the Super Eight
A win for both sides will take their points to 43 while Gateway maximum points from the two remaining matches will only earn the side 41points
