Chairman of the Ogun State Shooting Association, Hon.Akinola Akinremi Akinbitan has described the shooters representing the state at the forthcoming 6th National Youth Game in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital as the best in Nigeria, good enough to sustain the state leading position in the country
The association atter its recently concluded trial at the Alake Sports Complex in Abeokuta, released a list of four shooters including Toriola Oluwakemi (Pistol Female), Oyegbade Ayomide (Pistol Male), Edun Kehinde (Riffle Male) and Obabiyi Atinuke (Riffle Female)
The chairman speaking with newsmen on Thursday in Abeokuta is full of confident that the selected shooters would excell at the game
Shooters according to Akinbitan, are ready to do the state proud having scaled through highly competitive trial where 15 shooters participated
"We have high rankings shooters, what we have to do, is to benchmark against excellence
He stressed that association would continue to pysch its shooters, prepare them adequately to ensure their mental alertness, to be able to shoot at target during the competition and win the ultimate gold for the state
Akinbitan assured the shooters and the coaching crew led by Idris Oguntayo of the committment of the association to their welfare before, during and after the competition
"The association will continue to monitor its shooters, because shooting is a mental game. Shooters must be mentally fit to shoot at target, we are not just using and dumping them, we are also interested in their welfare
The highly respected politician expressed readiness of the present caretaker committee to attract Corporate sponsors to support various activities of the association to sustain the growth of shooting in the state
He however believe strongly in the support of the State Government to provide the needed logistic support for the shooters coaches and other officials during the National Youth Game in Ilorin, Kwara State capital
