Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY) Abeokuta says it has cleared all the outstanding salaries of both academic and non-academic staff, to ensure smooth take off of its semester examination holding next week on 30th of August
Acting Rector of the polytechnic, Dr.Adeoye Odedeji revealed this recently while hosting National President of the Nigeria Institute Of Town Planning NITP, Tpl. Toyin Ayinde in Abeokuta, the Ogun State Capital
He explained that the Institution paid the two outstanding months for June and July, up till last week , promising that the salary for this August would be paid at the end of the month
Odedeji expressed appreciation to Governor Dapo Abiodun for approving the released of the money out of the amount generated by the Institution into the coffers of the Ogun State Government, to settle the outstanding salaries
He attributed the successful payment of the outstanding salaries to serious financial re-engineering by the Institution which included blocking of the identified leakages in the system and doing away with the unnecessary expenses
His words, "we cut our cloth according to our materials, we don't spend on unnecessary items, we blocked the leakages in the the system"
Edu-Biznews recalled that the polytechnic's workers led by the Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, Comrade Chibuzo Osifalujo in June, protested against the non-payment of the outstanding salaries then for the month April and May which later extended to June and July, after the initial payment of the previous months
The acting Rector assured workers of the commitment of the polytechnic's management to their welfare for maximum productivity
