Voters Aparthy, Late Arrival of OGSIEC Officials At Ogun Councils'Poll



Voters apathy, late arrival of officials of the Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission OGSIEC characteristerized the conduct of councils'poll on Saturday in Ogun State

Edu-Biznews  observed that none  of the electoral officials seen at polling units inside Asero Housing Estate and Asero High School by 9:30am in Abeokuta South Local Government Area

But on getting to other two polling units 5 and 6 at Isale-Ake area, all in Abeokuta-South Local Government Area of the state, electoral officials seen attending to eligible voters 

The situation at some of the polling units in Abeokuta North, Ado-Odo/Ota and even at a polling unit in Iperu-Remo in Ikenne Local Government Area, where Governor Dapo Abiodun arrived the centre at 11:42am to cast his vote  

State Chairman of Police Community Relationship Committee,PCRC, Arc.Samson Popoola speaking with newsmen, blamed the apathy on low voter education, stressing the need for voters to be involved in the electoral process, to elect the right people, particularly at the grassroots

Also Vice-Chairmanship Candidate of the All Progressive Congress APC, Surveyor Iretiolu Sotayo commended the conduct of the poll by OGSIEC at a polling unit in Fajol area of Abeokuta South Local Government Area

Sotayo in a chat with newsmen, lauded the security arrangement by the State Government and security agencies for ensuring peaceful conduct of the excercise 

The ruling All Progressives Congress APC, a faction of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP), Action Alliance (AA), Labour Party (LP), Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), Social Democratic Party (SDP), All Progressives Grand Alliance APGA and five others contested chairmanship position in the 20 Local Government Areas and Councillorship candidates in the 236wards in the state
