Mrs.Abiola Ibrahim-Oyetunde is the councillorship candidate of the New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP) in Atan Ward(6) in the Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of Ogun State. In this Ogun LG 2021 Poll Agenda interview with Edu-Biznews, The product of Mathematics and Statistics from the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta, promises to focus on offering scholarship to brilliant pupils and initiate empowerment programmes for women and youths of her ward, if elected at the July 24 councils'poll in the state.Excerpt:
What are your plans for the people of Atan Ward (6) in Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area, if elected as a Councillor at the July 24 councils'poll in Ogun state?
Answer: Educational programmes are part of my manifesto as councillorship candidate, it is part of my intention to assist pupils, to set up a scheme and award scholarship to who ever that deserves it. I want to assist those children in public primary and secondary schools who need my financial assistance,if elected as a Councillor. The education sector is at zero level, as a candidate, I do go out, monitoring activities of pupils in schools, some go to school without wearing or having shoes, some even seen carrying their books in their hands. As a Councillor I have a responsibility to assist them with bags and shoes .It is part of my plan to award Scholarship to brilliant pupils who lack the financial resources to support their education and encourage them to do well.
Away from education sector, what plan do you have to facilitate projects and boost the economy of the Atan ward in the Ado-Odo/Ota LGA?
Answer:Part of my manifesto is empowering women, if you empowered
a woman, you have empowered a home, if you empowered a woman, you have empowered a nation .For instance when a woman starts a business of her own, she will be able to assist the husband at home, she will not wait for the husband to come and give her money for seasoning and other items to prepare food for the family or borrow money from the neighbour and wait for the husband to return home and pay such debt. When a woman is empowered , the children and husband are empowered, the home generally is empowered . It is also part of my manifesto to empower the youths, build the youths , build the nation . I will ensure I fix them up for any available descent job, there will be competitions organized, to engage the youths in sporting activities. I will facilitate available grants from the State Government to the Local Government, to assist the artisans among them in setting up small scale businesses . My focus is empowering women and youths. I'm contesting for the councillorship seat because I want my people to enjoy dividends of democracy, to bring my people closer to government, to make government realize that my people are here yearning for provision of basic amenities, to fastrack development. They are so many things they need including electricity, water and roads, it is the duty of government to provide these for the people. If a community needs a drainage system to channel water and prevent flooding, you can easily as a Councillor facilitate such project and others including provision of pipe-borne water or boreholes . There are so many people in my area that need these basic social amenities. I know I get there as a Councillor, I will be able to facilitate all these projects for my people to enjoy dividends of democracy. There should be light in Atan Ward, there should be life in Atan Ward, there are bad roads, poor electricity supply, we really need many basic facilities and I know, if I get there as a Councillor by the grace of God, I will be able to help them
