Ogun Education Commissioner Charges Medical Doctors Inductees On Ethics



Ogun State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu has charged medical doctors to always uphold the ethics of the profession and be conscious of their actions and inactions

He says that such action and inactions can lead to irreversible consequences on human lives.

Arigbabu made the call in Sagamu, during the induction and swearing-in ceremony of 45 newly qualified medical doctors of the Obafemi Awolowo College of Health Sciences, Olabisi Onabanjo University 

He described the occasion as culmination of years of hardwork and single-minded pursuit of a dream by the graduands.

The Commissioner posited that the burden borne in the course of study could not be compared to the demands of the profession, commending the courage of the new professionals for all the sacrifice, resilient and eventual success.

His words, "This occasion marks the culmination of years of hard work and single-minded pursuit of a dream by the graduands. For some, this journey has been characterised by long sleepless nights, endless examinations, non-existence social life, panic attacks, depression, emotional upheavals, among others. In spite of these impediments, our young colleagues have achieved their ultimate dream of becoming medical doctors"

Arigbabu charged them to be diligent and value the Oath to achieve the best in their chosen paths, and enable them to deliver efficiently to the society.

Speaking, the Vice-Chancellor, Olabisi Onabanjo University, Prof. Ganiu Olatunde represented by the Deputy Vice- Chancellor, Academics, Prof. Deji Agboola urged the inductees to allow discipline, morals and integrity be their watchwords in the practice of the medical profession, adding that they should remember to contribute to their alma mater for further development of the existing facilities and infrastructure in the college.

In her lecture, the Chairman, Lagos State Health Service Commission, 
Dr. Atinuke Onayiga who was also the guest speaker at the occasion, admonished the medical doctors to create equity for all people, master the art of listening, pursue their calling with honesty

Onayiga enjoined them never to stop learning and always  avoid unethical dealings while stressing the need to believe in themselves to guarantee their success
