New Nigeria People's Party {NNPP] has expressed concern over the quality of township roads being reconstructed by the Ogun State Government in Itori, Ewekoro Local Government Area and Olomore Federal Housing Estate in Abeokuta, the state capital
The party is also worry over the slow pace of two strategic roads in Abeokuta, the Adatan-Obantoko-Camp Road linking Ibadan in Oyo state and Lafenwa-Ayetoro Road which connects the city with Yewa axis of the state and other towns in neighbouring state
The State Chairman of NNPP, Comrade Olaposi Oginni who expressed the concern in a statement on Sunday in Abeokuta, asked Governor Dapo Abiodun to consider setting up of a Special Taskforce to ensure proper monitoring of the ongoing road projects, particularly in Itori town where he claims that motorists spend more than six hours in traffic gridlock to get to their various destinations
Oginni added that both Itori and Olomore Township Roads should be expanded with adequate drainage systems, to accommodate the expected volume of vehicular and human traffic as link roads, saying the ongoing reconstruction of the two roads has further narrowed their sizes which he described as below the Ogun standard
“We in NNPP are appealing to Governor Dapo Abiodun to set up Special Taskforce, to properly monitor the reconstruction of the two roads and ensure that the reconstruction measure-up to Ogun Standard to justify the use of tax-payers’ money for the interest of the public “,the party stated
NNPP is equally asking the Prince Dapo Abiodun’s administration to demonstrate its sincerity to the people of the state, by ensuring that roads construction are done before rainy season , to avoid the pains the road users plying the affected roads are going through at the moments
