Ogun LG Polls:NNPP Vows To Flush out APC

New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has vowed to flush out the ruling All Progressives Congress APC in the running of Local Governments administration in Ogun State, after the July 24 councils'poll

The State Chairman of the party, Comrade Olaposi Oginni in a chat with Edu-Biznews on Monday in Abeokuta, the state capital, expressed the readiness of the party to take APC to cleaner at the poll

"We are ready for them and ready to take them (APC) to the cleaner, every body should watch out for the major upset in the election"

Oginni accused APC of running foul of the Electoral Guidelines released by the Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission OGSIEC and even its own constitution, following the late presentation of councillorship candidates outside the stipulated period for screening of candidates from participating political parties in the excercise.

His words,"We cried loud that APC has ran foul of the guidelines by OGSIEC for the election, foul of even its constitution , just wait for what will happen because we are going to deal with APC in their coins"

He appealed to the electorates to vote for candidates of NNPP, to ensure functional Local Government administration for people to enjoy the dividends of democracy at the grassroots

Oginni accused governors in the country of rendering the local councils useless by tampering with their monthly allocation from the Federation Account, pledging that it would not be business as usual under NNPP, if voted into power

The party however commended OGSIEC for the reversal of its earlier decision on payment of N200,000 nomination fees by Chairmanship candidates and N100,000 by councillorship candidates contesting the poll

The cancellation of the fees by the electoral agency's Chairman, Babatunde Osibodu according to Oginni, "has removed the barrier that once you don't have money you can't run or contest for any election, but that barrier has been removed, it is total victory for democracy, NNPP"

Oginni particularly lauded the Commission's board led by Osibodu for respecting the judgement of Hon.Justice Soremi on the matter, which forbid the agency for charging such fees which the party described as obnoxious and illegal fees

"I officially want to salute the courage of the chairman of OGSIEC, Mr. Babatunde Osibodu in accepting the fact that there was a judgement delivered by Hon. Justice Soremi concerning obnoxious and illegal fees, we want to appreciate every member of the board for listening to the voice of reasoning . The New Nigeria People's Party NNPP  cried blue murder on these obnoxious and illegal fees and we threatened that we are going to take OGSIEC to court", Oginni stated

He added that the removal had provided opportunities for the electorates to elect candidates of their choice at the poll, urging OGSIEC to ensure conduct of free and credible election whose process is acceptable to stakeholders
