Ogun LG Poll: Anxiety Grips APC Councillorship Aspirants As Screening Ends



There are have been anxiety among some of the councillorship aspirants, seeking to contest the July 24 councils'poll on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress APC in Ogun State, hours into the final day for the screening of candidates, this Friday.

Edu-Biznews findings revealed that the party was yet to release the list of councillorship candidates as at 3:30 pm on Thursday, a day to closure of fresh extension of the screening of Candidates this Friday, 18th of June, which has further heightened the fear of the councillorship aspirants on the platform of APC

Some of the aspirants of the party had earlier been spotted on Tuesday, 15th of June, waiting anxiously at the office of the Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission (OGSIEC) in Oke-Ilewo Ibara, Abeokuta,  for the release of the list for councillorship candidates by the APC State Secretariat, which never got to the agency on Tuesday, ahead of the initial closure day on Wednesday, 16th of June  

Two of the aspirants from Sagamu and another from Imeko-Afon Local Government Areas respectively in a chat with Edu-Biznews, are worried that their names earlier picked might be substituted with other names while others complaints that they had been shortchanged by the APC leadership

The aspirants are expected to return to the OGSIEC office this Friday,18th of June, which is the last day for screening of candidates for the councils'poll

However, some of the Chairmanship candidates of the party were seen being screened on Tuesday and Wednesday  at the commission's office while the list of councillorship candidates was still being expected, as at the time of filing this report on Thursday as at 3:30pm, hours to the final day of screening.

Candidates from 18 political parties are expected to participate in the councils'poll in the state
