Abiodun Hails Tejuosho's Appointment As UNILAG's Pro-Chancellor



Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has lauded the Federal Government for appointimg Senator Lanre Tejuoso as the Chairman Governing Council and Pro-Chancellor of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) 

He described the appointment as a well thought out and deserving, saying it will bring greater developments to the higher institution of learning.

Abiodun who gave the commendation, during a welcome dinner in honour of the newly appointed Chairman, at Tolu Odugbemi Hall of UNILAG in Lagos, expressed optimism that the institution was in for better days.

Represented by his Deputy, Engr Noimot Salako-Oyedele, he  said Senator Tejuoso being a man of many parts and a school owner, who would be trusted to bring his vast wealth of experience, expertise, exposure and knowledge in the running of affairs of the University.

According to Abiodun,"The appointment of Senator Lanre Tejuoso is a well-deserved one, a round peg has been put in a round hole, he is a leader that will direct well and uphold the policies of the University. Education is key to the development of any nation, I am sure his wealth of experience which spans across many fields such as personal, business and political, will come to play throughout his tenure as Chairman Governing Council”

Governor Abiodun, while pledging his support for the newly inaugurated Governing Council, assured that his government would take concrete steps to help Ogun indigent students in the university community.

Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Oluwatoyin Ogundipe had earlier  said the latest appointment of the University's Governing Council would bring unrivalled development to the institution, as well as a relationship devoid of rancour, among the various administrative levels of institution

He promised to work hand in hand with them to ensure that University of Lagos retains its pride of place.

Edu-Biznews recalled that the new Pro-Chancellor was a Senator for Ogun Central at the National Assembly between 2015 and 2019 and Chairman Senate Committee on Health

He replaces the embattled erstwhile Pro-Chancellor, Dr.Wale Babalakin,
SAN whose tenure was characterised with crisis between the governing council and the Senate of the university
