Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has sacked Vice-Chancellor of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology Ogbomoso (LAUTECH) Prof Michael Ologunde.
Also the sacked Vice-Chancellor has been directed to hand over to the next principal officer in rank, to ensure smooth running of the administration of the university's normal activities
The State Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology, Olasunkanmi Olaleye announced the sacking in a letter on Friday.
The letter reads in parts:
“His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde, the Governor of Oyo State and the visitor to the Ladoke Akintola University, has directed that the Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof. M. O. Ologunde should step aside until further notice.
The letter however did not disclose the reason for the sacking of the Vice- Chancellor which some strongly believed might not unconnected with the recent agitation of the Institution's workers over their unpaid backlog of salaries
The governor had expressed shock over the agitation of workers for payment of the outstanding salaries, immediately the issue of ownership between Oyo and Osun States was resolved in favour of the Oyo State Government
